Board of Directors

Bob Steck
Consultant/ Writer

Bob Steck is a consultant/writer living in Washington, DC, serving business clients like IBM, Nextel, and Nielsen Media Research, and non-profit organizations like the Government of Rwanda and the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation.  He is a member of the Potomac Squash Club, and travels often to New York City where he stays and plays a lot of squash at the Harvard Club of New York City.  Steck reports: "My tennis partners often shake their heads sadly and say, 'Well, maybe he's a decent squash player'; squash partners tend to assume that at least my tennis game might be half decent."

Connie Barnes
Director of Racquet Sports
Sport & Health

Connie Barnes played competitive squash at the state grade level in Australia for 20 years, before moving to DC in 2002. She now runs several very successful junior and adult squash programs at Sport and Health Clubs throughout the DC area.  Connie works as the Director of Racquet Sports for Sport and Health. She is currently completing a Masters in Psychology (Organizational).

Rod Barnes

Rod Barnes has played squash competitively at state grade level since 1980. He has served with the NCSRA since 2004 as web editor and Div 1 coordinator. Rod contributed to the development of the AussieNick and SquashEmpower concepts. 
 

Hunt Richardson
Squash Professional

Hunt Richardson is the Head Squash Professional at the Sports Club/LA in Washington, DC. Hunt has served on the NCSRA Board of Directors since 1991, and has been involved in squash development and program creation for juniors and adults in Nation's Capital since 1984. Hunt is a USSRA National Referee and Certified Referee Instructor. If you need to know anything about squash in Washington, DC, Hunt will be glad to tell you about it.

Joe D'Amico

Joe D'Amico is Director of Education Assessment and Charter School Accreditation for the American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE), a national organization dedicated to strengthening and promoting the liberal arts and sciences at all levels of education through accreditation, research, and other professional activities. He is responsible for AALE’s charter school assessment, accreditation, and development programs and for managing its Teaching American History Grants Evaluation Program. Joe has a Master's degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's degree in Anthropology from Brandeis University, and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, also from the University of Pennsylvania. He is listed in Who's Who in American Education, was a member of the International Technology Education Association Standards Development Team, and has been on the selection committee of the National Association of Secondary School Principals Principal of the Year award. 

Scott Spector

Scott Spector is a Principal and Co-founder of Kodiak Properties, L.L.C., a firm specializing in the acquisition of retail centers for investment. Kodiak has purchased seventeen (17) shopping centers, all of which were distressed sale situations. Since purchasing the centers in early 1994, significant improvements have been made in their economic performance through an aggressive leasing and marketing effort. Kodiak’s goal is to continue to purchase existing centers with significant upside opportunity and to use its management skills to bring attractive returns to investors. Mr. Spector is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery and is active in local charities such as The-Make-A-Wish Foundation and Tracy’s Kids.

Dean Packard
Sr. Vice President Investments, Financial Planning Specialist Smith Barney

Dean Packard has been a financial consultant since 1984 and during his career he has worked predominately with private clients to help them map outa path to a financially comfortable retirement.  Dean is an accomplished tennis player who is currently ranked #1 in the State of Maryland for the 40 and over division, and #2 in the Mid-Atlantic section. But Dean's first athletic love is squash.  He believes that the lessons learned on the squash court are invaluable.

Chris Walker
Squash Professional and SquashEmpower Patron

Chris Walker is a former number 6 on the PSA tour and still plays squash at a world class level. As well as a highly gifted athlete he has proven himself to be a great ambassador to the game he loves. Chris is currently the US men's coach.  A gentleman on and off the court, we proudly hold him as our Patron, and as co-chair in the 2005 Gala.

Palmer Page
Former USSRA CEO

As the former CEO of the United States Squash Rackets Association, Palmer will be remembered for his focus on reinvigorating the Association.  Under Palmer, the Association became sound financially, promoted the game around the idea of “Your Squash, Your Teams and Your Community”, and brought innovations including the use of the internet for the players, clubs, and organization.  Prior to his USSRA leadership role, Palmer worked at IBM for 30 years.  He held executive positions and participated in creating a very successful commercial finance business. A life long player of the squash rackets, he is honored in the University of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. 

Pamela Curran
Operations Manager YMCA

Pamela Curran is one of the leading experts in the health and fitness industry. With over 23 years experience in club management, Pamela developed and has been responsible for some of the most successful and upscale clubs in the Washington DC area.   Pam commenced working with the YMCA as Operations manager in January 2004.

David Elder
IT Consultant

David Elder is a Systems Engineer with more than 14 years of experience in Information Systems.  He currently serves as a Senior Systems Analyst responsible for the establishment, configuration management, and operations support of technology and platforms supporting Internet systems for Westat Inc.

Dave Dickieson
Attorney
Buchanan Ingersoll PC

Dave Dickieson is an attorney heading up the litigation section of the Washington office of the national law firm of Buchanan Ingersoll PC. He wasthe two-time captain of the Cornell Varsity Squash Team and is one of the founders of the non-profit group -- Friends of Cornell University Squash (FOCUS).  Dave reached his pinnacle of squash success when he was ranked fourth in the US in the 30+ age group in 1987 and now spends his free time trying to teach his own two kids to play squash

Therese Khan
Teacher

Therese Khan has been teaching elementary school for fifteen years in Washington, DC.  Over that time she has taught science and currently teaches Social Studies (a combination of history and geometry), Language Arts, and mathematics to students in Grade 5.  She particularly enjoys developing and implementing challenging curriculum units for her students.  In addition to her classroom responsibilities she has worked with a variety of students as they prepare to take the SSAT (test for secondary school admission). Outside her academic responsibilities, Therese enjoys photography, graphic design, and has ambitions of getting back on the squash court more regularly.
